yay for running!

i like the slowing down advice.

there may also be some herbal remedies that help with joints. i always liked the scent of tiger balm and heard it helps with joints whether you run or not. (it is a bit Ben Gay - ish but more homeopathic and less freezing feeling). I am sure there are other herbal remedies too that you can slap on there either before or after you run.

Shoes advice is also good. Your bro wears orthotics and if he doesn't he is in dire straits.

I hope we find you that jogger stroller soon. It is so nice going running with the babe (especially when they sleep during it).

I can't believe you have a baby! I can't believe I didn't know this! I am so out of the loop! Congratulations! She is beautiful and you look great. About running, I have kind of picked it up the past few months. For a while my knee really bugged me, but I slowed things down a little bit and tried to strengthen it some before pushing too hard and I got to where I could run further without them hurting and now they don't bother me. Jenna gave all the advice people have given me, so hopefully something helps!

really it's likely because you haven't been running for a long time and your body isn't used to it. my advice would be to start out slowly - resist trying to run a ton (milage or time) from the get go - but have a plan to slowly increase your time/distance a little each week. It may mean you only run 10 minutes a day the first week and then add a couple minutes each week. Keep consistent with trying to get out every/every other day so your body can adjust. However, use your instinct and stop if you think the pain is bad pain. Slow and steady - you can do it!

A brace might not be a bad idea as well.

Also, icing works! It just takes time (10-15 min) of a cold enough ice pack or ice water or even a frozen waterbottle massage over it. It helps the healing. IB Profin (spell?) will help with pain releif, not necessarily get rid of the problem though.

Don't forget to consider your shoe situation. Are they good running shoes? Do you have a running store that could evaluate how your feet land and what type of shoe is best for you. Doesn't mean you have to spend a ton on a shoe, but they may notice that you need a shoe that had more/less support on the inside/outsite/front/back of your foot.

I'd be more than happy to tell you what I think anytime! just email/text me! Best wishes!

Elliot's knees hurt when he runs too. He got a little brace at Target that seems to be working well for him.
