Almost on a Routine

July26

We are almost on a routine with Lexi. We still have some kinks to work out, namely she wakes up crying from her naps after a half hour or so. Here is what we have achieved so far.

  • Lexi wakes up at 7 am and is in bed by 7:30 pm! She sleeps all night (but she was doing this before)
  • She only eats 5 times a day. What a RELIEF! What was I thinking feeding her 8 times a day. Live and learn.
  • She naps 3 times a day…we are still working on her staying asleep for 1 1/2- 2 hours for her first two.

Perhaps by the end of the week she will be right as rain.

Sleep Training Do-Over

July23

What were we thinking starting sleep training on a busy week? Needless to say it hasn’t worked because we haven’t been home. Also we decided “cry it out” is not for us.

Now, we are starting over with the Baby Whisperer method. So far I love it. Tomorrow starts our first day of actual technique implementation. This means I’m pretty much staying inside all day for the next week or so (not much of a sacrifice when you walk outside and melt in the 90 degree weather).

By the end, Lexi should

  • only eat 4-5 times a day (instead of 8),
  • go to bed with a short bedtime routine,
  • soothe herself,
  • be on a schedule,
  • and, possibly, not use a pacifier.

Wahoo, independence for all.

Run, Run, Run

July20

I am running for the first time ever. When a sport is not involved, I don’t enjoy running. But I’ve been doing it for the past 2 weeks (wahoo). So now how do I stop my knees from hurting? I am trying to run on the road instead of the sidewalk, but it hasn’t seemed to help? Advice anyone? Do I just need to be a more experienced runner? Any other tips you have learned? Share the knowledge. I would like to be a better runner, something I thought I would never say.

Sleep Training is Murder

July20

This had better work! I feel as though I am murdering my child. I hope she catches on quickly.

3 months

June21

Lexi is growing fat, I mean fast. She isn’t much longer than last month but is over 14 pounds at the beginning of her third month.

Our little Lexi Kinz likes to put everything in her mouth including her thumb and clothes

She likes to pull hair

She is experimenting very loudly with her voice

She had great fun with her Aunties (despite the indifferent look on her face here)

Lexi loves to laugh and giggle…maybe someday I will catch it on video…and she hates tummy time.

Lexi does, however, like to sit in her Bumbo.

She is still an excellent sleeper. Just recently she started going to bed at 9 or 10 instead of 11 or 12. Hooray for sleep.

We love our little Lexi (and perhaps someday she will look at the camera)

Easter

April16

Ryan is totally awesome and hid eggs and baskets around the apartment while my sister was here visiting. He also hid a family game: Clue. We played and pigged out all week. We also have been finding stragglers in tissue boxes, drawers and bookshelves.

Lexi was sleeping, but we woke her up to search for eggs

The hunt was on

Enjoying their spoils (Fun fact: This dress was mine when I was little)

All tuckered out

No Work All Play

September28

After much back and forth, my work decided not to hire me back for my last few months before the baby comes. At first I didn’t know what to do with myself. I have been working since I was 15, and now I might never work again!?

I got over that pretty quick.

I basically have been goofing off since I got back this summer. I downloaded a bunch of old DOS computer games. It’s amazing! So old and cheesy. This one is actually a remake, so it’s pretty good:

The others are pixelated masterpieces:

I have been doing somewhat worthy things with my time, but who wants to hear about that, right?

Ab Ripper X-cellent

June2

My friend invited me and a few other girls over to do some ab exercises at her house the other day. We followed a 15 minute DVD routine called Ab Ripper X. It was intense! I love the burn when working out abs, and this routine provides serious burnage.

I have been doing the 15 minutes every other day for maybe 3 weeks now and can say there is a definite difference. Try it out. Who doesn’t have 15 minutes :)

I don’t own the DVDs, so I found the ab section of the video online; here are the links below:

Blast from the Past

May26

Someone told me yesterday that my old house from when I grew up is for sale. I checked out some pictures of it online. Way weird! Funny how things seem so big when you are little. Check it out: http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/17-Meadow-Rd_East-Brunswick_NJ_08816_1105265479?mp=1
