Easter

April16

Ryan is totally awesome and hid eggs and baskets around the apartment while my sister was here visiting. He also hid a family game: Clue. We played and pigged out all week. We also have been finding stragglers in tissue boxes, drawers and bookshelves.

Lexi was sleeping, but we woke her up to search for eggs

The hunt was on

Enjoying their spoils (Fun fact: This dress was mine when I was little)

All tuckered out

Silly Bili Baby

March29

Hip, hip, hooray! Lexi is getting better. After going to the doctor’s/hospital everyday for almost two weeks and using light therapy at home, her bilirubin count is finally going down and should stay down. She looks much less yellow and is acting a lot more like a newborn. Instead of sleeping 5-6 hours, she sleeps 2-3. Who knew I would be thankful for less sleep. Light therapy is over, and we don’t have to go to the doctors for another week!

Here she is at 24 (she looks like she’s praying):

Here she is at about 17 (wearing the bili blanket):

And today at an 11 (her left eye is still pretty yellow):

Lexi Has Arrived!

March22

We are so happy to have our little Lexi home with us. Ellexis Kinzy McBride was born on March 17, 2010 at 1:16 pm after only 30 minutes of pushing. She weighed 8 lbs. 1 oz. and was 19.5 inches long. After a couple nights of wonderful help from the nurses at the hospital, we thought we were finally ready to bring her home. Little did we know she was slowly turning yellow. On Sunday we went back to the hospital for a serious case of jaundice. Thankfully, they got her feeling better, and by Monday night we were finally able to have her home with us for good.

Here is Lexi with her Mommy and Daddy.

One of her first pair of pajamas were the bunny pajamas that her aunt Quin gave her, they are soooo soft. She even tried on the headband her mommy made for her.

Isn’t she soooo cute.

“Please, no more pictures. Let me sleep.”

Baby Showers

March4

Thank you family and friends for two very fun baby showers. I got tons of cute clothes and things I need for this soon-to-arrive baby.

My first shower was over Christmas break. It was planned by my sister and in-laws.

(Fun facts: I made the necklace my sister is wearing…and I’m totally stuffing my face with party food; note the cracker in hand.)

My family got crafty on some onesies.

Then I had a baby shower in NC a few weeks ago hosted by some wonderful friends.

We played a fun game of baby pictionary. It was pretty hilarious watching people try to draw breast feeding and yelling out “Bottle! Nipple!”

Thank You for two very fun nights of celebrating this little girl.

I Can Read!

February23

I have not felt any desire to read recently, but a friend told me about a great new book.

I didn’t want to start any new projects since I’m about 3 weeks away from having a baby outside of me instead of inside, and this book was the perfect thing to fill my time. I couldn’t stop thinking about it when I finished. I bought the first one (anyone want to borrow?) but decided to be wait-listed at the library for book 2. Ugh, I don’t know if I can wait another day to read it…Amazon is calling me.

New Widget

February5

I just added a new widget to my blog. I made a list on Shelfari of all the books I own incase my friends would like to borrow something I have. Enjoy.

Recent Projects: Part 4

January28

My friend gave me a boppy pillow, so I decided to make a slipcover for it. This is the first time I’ve used a pattern since 8th grade. It was very frustrating, but it came out good in the end.

Recent Projects and 32 1/2 weeks

January21

As you can tell, I have time on my hands. Here are two more things I’ve finished:

1. A baby headband that I saw on Etsy but decided to make myself to save money:

I made one for myself:

2. A baby swaddling blanket. I got a sewing machine for Christmas, and wanted to practice using it and the cool stitches it has programed:

And for good measure here is a picture of me at about 32 1/2 weeks and laughing at Ryan:

Recent Projects: Part 2

January16

I saw a lamp at Pottery Barn Kids that was awesome. It cost $50 just for the shade, so I made my own.
Here is project number two for the baby:
